TotalEnergies Gas and Power is the trading arm of TotalEnergies in the field of low carbon energies (mainly gas, LNG and power) and TGPNA is the affiliate in North America in charge of the US trading business. As such it operates in fast-evolving market dynamics influenced by internal and external factors that require constant adaptation and evolution. Uncertainties specific to the trading environment (volatility of prices, supply & demand mismatches) are coupled with those coming from the broader energy sector (climate change policies, changes in the energy mix, developments of new energy sources, etc) and the broader macro-economic context. Activités
Strategic Vision & Alignment

Define and execute the US Q&TA team’s strategy to enhance the profitability and competitiveness of the Trading Gas and Trading Power BUs.
Ensure strategic cohesion by aligning objectives with the broader global Q&TA strategy and integrating seamlessly across functions and geographies.
Lead data-driven decision-making to identify, validate, and scale monetizable trading opportunities.
Team Leadership & Development

Build and cultivate a high-performing multidisciplinary team of market fundamentals experts, data scientists, quants, and meteorologists.
Drive a culture of excellence and agility in a fast-paced, complex trading environment by promoting collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation.
Ensure purposeful delegation with clear, measurable objectives tailored to the needs of trading desks and long-term growth strategies.
Analytics, Modeling & Innovation

Oversee the development and deployment of advanced quantitative models, including AI/ML-driven predictions, pricing tools, and market fundamentals simulations.
Ensure robustness and integrity in the design, validation, and deployment of analytical tools, maintaining best practices in modeling governance.
Champion innovation by leading initiatives to digitize and automate trading workflows, including the creation of algorithmic trading strategies.
Cross-Functional Synergy

Forge strong partnerships with Risk, Finance, IT, and other supporting units to ensure alignment and effective integration of Q&TA insights.
Collaborate closely with GRP entities (especially FPI and REN) and ATMI analytics teams to share knowledge and co-develop analytical frameworks.
Talent Strategy

Actively manage talent pipelines to attract, retain, and develop individuals with unique skill sets that enrich Trading’s analytical and operational edge.
Ensure resource adaptability to meet the evolving needs of trading desks and future business growth.
Thought Leadership & Executive Engagement

Serve as the in-house expert on US market modeling and trading analytics, supporting both tactical and strategic initiatives across the enterprise.
Act as the reference point for GRP, TS, EP, and RC on US market insights and quant innovations.
Deliver regular insights to senior leaders and COMEX members on market shifts, strategic risks, and emerging opportunities.


DIMENSIONS

The Quantitative and Trading Analysis (Q&TA) team aims at providing a better understanding of the markets traded by TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP) Trading teams in terms of prices and fundamentals, finding ways to model and forecast their dynamics and dealing with complex issues requiring a quantitative approach (pricing, hedging and simulations of complex products, transactions, or assets). In a context of great autonomy, the Q&TA team contributes interpretation, advisory and support to all trading desks and to senior management - including COMEX members.

The Q&TA team is formed of market fundamentals experts, data scientists, meteorologists, and quantitative researchers spread in 3 geographical locations (Geneva, Houston, Singapore).

The job holder oversees the Houston based Q&TA team and influences the global TGP trading performance working with Total Gas & Power North America (TGPNA) trading desks and other stakeholders throughout the organization to help traders take positions on the market and more broadly the Company to catch new business opportunities. This requires in-depth analysis of complex and unique problems as well as creative and strategic thinking.

Profil du candidat
Education / Experience

10 to 15 years of experience, predominantly spent in an energy trading environment, including proven experience in positions with a highly quantitative analysis component.
Masters degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering or other Mathematical subject
Proven knowledge of US power and natural gas markets.
Experience in managing a team is a prerequisite. Managerial skills, including the ability to foster a high-performing culture, mentor team members, and conduct performance reviews.
Proven ability to set achievable and relevant goals for the team, ensuring accountability and alignment with organizational objectives.
Knowledge of quantitative finance, operational research, economic modelling, and the main coding languages
Skills

Strong ability to filter through data and information to develop actionable intelligence.
Credibility to operate at a senior level within the organization.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build relations at multiple levels and across organizations.
Proactive approach and mindset to propose and drive improvement and changes.

Good communication and presentation skills. Ability to explain complex issues and present them in a clear and neat manner.
