The escalation of war in Ukraine on 24 February 2022 created a humanitarian and human rights catastrophe. Millions of children were uprooted from their homes, separated from their families and put at risk of violence.

When refugees sought refuge in neighboring countries after 24 February 2022, UNICEF ECARO Region activated an immediate emergency response in six of these, with Hungary being one of those.

The Refugee Response Office (RRO) in Hungary was established with the mission of helping refugees, especially children and women by ensuring access to child protection services, health, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, education, accommodation, winter clothing and social protection support, including cash assistance.


How can you make a difference?

UNICEF is looking for an Intern to support The Refugee Response Office (RRO) in Hungary, who will help enable digital collaboration on MS SharePoint and Teams Under the guidance of the RRO Team’s Planning, Monitoring, and Reporting Officer. Intern will support activities that facilitate knowledge sharing on team collaboration sites and other platforms as required and assist with data collection, reporting, quality checks, as well as data entry and maintenance of excel sheets.

This may involve:

Provide support in development of knowledge products related to the Emergency Response such as factsheets, briefing notes, FAQs, reports, good practices, lessons learned, etc.
Act as an information contact point, together with other members of the RRO Hungary Team, for information requests and questions.
Support partner reporting processes, including quality check of submitted data and reporting.
Assist with data collection, entry and maintaining excel sheets.
Support with maintaining and developing RRO Hungary Team SharePoint Collaboration site and other platforms as required.
Support with field monitoring activities.

Current enrolment in a degree programme at the Bachelor or Master’s level or recent graduate (up to 2 years) in international development, statistics, information management, social sciences or any other related field.
Fluency in English and working knowledge in Hungarian is required.
Strong analytical skills and attention to details. Excellent research skills and ability to think quantitatively.
Experience working with MS SharePoint and other MS O365 apps. Experience working with different zero-code applications / site-building tools is an asset.
Flexible and open to learning and new experiences.
Can work both independently and effectively.
Eligible applicants must be eligible to work in Hungary.
The selected intern will be required to provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to taking up the assignment.
Contract Duration and Terms

The internship may be offered as full-time or part-time as per requirements of the hiring office and availability of the selected candidate. A minimum of 3 days physical presence in UNICEF Budapest office required. 2 days of remote work from home per week may be possible.
Intern is expected to be physically present in office when needed for specific work-related activities
The anticipated start date of this internship is 1 May 2023.
This internship is paid with a stipend of net HUF 295,633 per month or prorated if offered as part-time.
Individuals must have proof of medical insurance covering their time at the duty station.
Individuals are personally responsible for obtaining any required visa or residence permit, covering the entire period of their internship.
Interns may take up to 2.5 days per month off work for any reason, including for medical reasons. The stipend will be reduced for any absence beyond this quota.
